"Reconstructing the evolutionary history of different groups of organisms provides insight into how life originated and diversified on Earth. Phylogenetic trees are commonly used to estimate this evolutionary history. Within Bayesian phylogenetics a major step in estimating a tree is in choosing an...

With the PRIME workshop a decision was made to support a workshop focussing on extinctions and their roles in evolution. Now also PRIME has its own unique icon again designed by the brilliant FAU Brand Office.
Preparations begin. IRATE will be holding its first small workshop at PalAss 24 in Erlangen. The “big one” will then follow in February. And, the PIs from PRIME will be present as keynote speakers!
With PRIME, we have found the next workshop for PaleoSynthesis. The application from Baran Karapunar (Leeds) and Bethany Allen (Zurich) was seen as having the greatest potential. We congratulate them on their successful application and look forward to working with them.
Times are changing and so is our social media profile. In the future, we will not only inform you via the channels we already use, but also via #BlueskySocial . You can find us there under @PaleoSynth. See you there!
To all colleagues! Don't forget.... the deadline to submit your workshop proposals is November 11th. Do you have any questions? Then get in touch with us. You can find information and contact details here.
"Different theories have been proposed to explain the phenotypic changes observed in island lineages, but it remains unclear if predictable evolutionary trajectories can be identified within island communities.
Using a 3D functional space approach, we tested whether insular endemic species tend...
"The plant macrofossil assemblage from a Rhaetian succession of a quarry near Einberg (Franconia, Germany), of which ferns, cycadophytes and ginkgophytes had been published earlier, comprises two conifer species (Schizolepidopsis liasokeuperianus and Stachyotaxus septentrionalis) that are unambiguo...
Today we are opening the next call for PaleoSynthesis Workshops. Again there is full funding for travel and accommodation for the workshop team. We hope for many exciting topics! All information is provided here. Deadline is November 11, 2024.
